I just started reflecting on how GCBands came about..
So here it is...
"Born on the 29th of May, 2008,
GCBands is a Gemini.."
The first concept drawings for GCBands where done after arriving home from a gig in 2006...
I proposed the idea to my close friends and talented business partners Hayley and Dave. So to start out, we developed a bands profile type on our singles network GCLounge. Over the next few years the idea of an online battle of the bands website started getting some interest from local bands and we slowly built the initial email database up to a fairly decent number.
Then in may 2008 when it felt like it was never going to happen, I noticed MySpace was coming to the end of it's hay days and I started thinking about how it would end up effecting the local music scene. Instantly my imagination fired up and I took the GCBands idea by the scruff of it's scrawny little neck and with the help of Kelli we put it together and launched it super fast.
At first I was really excited and amazed when people started to use it. Actually, It still really excites and amazes me now.
Now all the popping and crunching behind the scenes of GCBands is done far away on a fancy server sitting in Silicon Valley, California. The updates and maintenance usually happens early in the morning when all you little babies are asleep. naw.. haha.
Anyways, thanks for being members of GCBands, it's been freakin fun...
If you need help with anything, maybe you have ideas or maybe you would just like to tell me your problems, feel free to send me a message on here or email mike@gcbands.com
Cheers to the future.
- Mike
p.s. I've copped a few nasty emails lately from people we've banned who want to join and spam the network with their crap mail... I can't actually be bothered writing back to them. I'm all for businesses and bands using GCBands to promote and advertise their music related stuff, thats a big part of why we're here. But I'm not going to close my eyes while greedy people try to exploit the absolute balls out of us.. If you don't like me, that's fine, you suck, but you can still be a member.. when you start pushing your unwanted crap down peoples throats that's when we say sayonara bitches..
