- SLOW RIOTS have cemented their status as the Gold Coast's premium alternative band since forming in 2006.
With influences like Unwound, Smashing Pumpkins, The Mark Of Cain and Lightning Bolt, their mix of crushing distortion and mind-expanding tones sets them well apart from other bands on the scene.
2011 saw the release of the "Bored" EP, which were recorded over a year and finished at the Coast's lavish Blind Boy Studios. It's free; copies are available at shows, and downloads are at Bandcamp (http://slowriots.bandcamp.com/).
The new 4-track EP "Red Bridge" will be released independently Mid-2012. Whilst recording the EP and gigging ferociously, the band are also writing an LP "Do", songs from which are already being played live.
SLOW RIOTS' music is at once thunderous, atmospheric, ethereal and focused; sure signs of an accomplished band with clear musical intentions. If you can't tell from the recordings...you'd better come to a show.
