Hailing from the Gold Coast Hinterland, Payments in Gold are steadily building a reputation as no-nonsense, Aussie rock three piece, who deliver a raw, high energy performance. Drawing from a vast array of influences including Paul Kelly, Jimi Hendrix, The Clash, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Payments in Gold have created a sound that is as Australian as it is their own.
Forming backing in 2010, the original lineup of Chris Metzger, Paul Kokshoorn and Margy Jockin hit the ground running with a string of dates in South East Queensland as well as the recording of their debut E.P. “Fall of Rome”, at U-Live Studios, OceanShores under the guidance of Patty Bom and Melania Jack.
Late 2011 saw the unfortunate departure of Margy, with Dylan Marshall taking up bass guitar duties.
With a fresh plan of attack for 2012, Payments in Gold are making inroads into the musical circus that is rock n roll.

Chris 'Prince of Darkness' Metzger – Lead vocals/guitar/songwriting – Chris weaves his unmistakable magic through the Payments in Gold sound like a hot knife through butter and pens songs about his everyday observations, whether it be through his job as a drug and alcohol counsellor, the wisdom gained through world travel or just social observations. Chris' lyrics are brutally honest with subjects varying from Home and Away, to Ke$ha, to Clopie, the one eyed horse Working under the philosophy that it really is about having fun, Chris still brings a dark horse energy to the stage, and is definitely a candidate for brooding artist status.

Paul 'Top Shelf' Kokshoorn – Drums/backing vocals – Originally from New Zealand, Top Shelf brings a wealth of knowledge to the band that can only be obtained as a working musician, 5 nights a week for 9 years straight, Yeah, think about that, thats a lot of gigs. With influences ranging from Eric Clapton to Radiohead, to DubFX, Paul is the rhythm foundation that everything is built around. There's a reason we call him Top Shelf, and you only have to be in the presence of this drumming machine to understand why, a tribal man at heart, a lover not fighter and just straight up awesome human being, Paul's drumming comes across just that, Top Shelf.

Dylan 'Tigger' Marshall – Bass/backing vocals – With a musical career that dates back to when he was only 6 years old, Dylan brings a wealth of performance and recording experience to Payments in Gold. Playing in a variety of bands in Australia and Africa, that included nu-metal, rock, jazz orchestras, traditional creole, reggae, blues, and gypsy music, Dylan is all about phat groove. Not content to just stand there in the spotlights, Dylan has been known to jump around the stage like the possessed love child of Flea and Tigger, bringing a burst of energy to the Payments in Gold stage. With a love for massive, kidney melting bass lines and deep harmonies, Dylan rounds out this impressive three piece that is Payments in Gold.
