Gold Coast rock act Miacarla have prepared to return in a big way.
After 8 months of touring off their debut EP 'The Soundtrack to an Imagination', a slot on both the 2007 Taste of Chaos tour and the 2008 Big Day Out, as well as their single 'The Search' nominated for a 2007 MusicOz Award, Miacarla built their own studio and commenced writing for their second release [due this winter]; ‘IvsWORLD’. If the new single 'Get Up!’ is anything to judge the forthcoming release on, this EP could very well position the band at the forefront of emerging Australian talent.
“We wrote and recorded our debut EP pretty quickly”, states guitarist Jeremy O’Donnell. “We knew that we needed a single or EP of some sort to tour and to promote our band. It’s funny because ‘The Search’ was written extremely quickly, like a matter of minutes, and it’s turned out to be a song that can relate to anyone on some level.”
Taking time to write for their second release is exactly what the band wanted to do according to drummer, Dan Crisafulli.
“We wanted to challenge ourselves as songwriters. We knew where we wanted to take our band and the music we wanted to produce. We had to step it up and write to the ability of bands that have been around for 5 or 6 years and work with well known producers – and we had to do it on our own because we don’t have the backing or the funding of a label”, speaks Dan. “This next release has to set us up to release an amazing debut album, which we want to do in 2009. That’s the importance right there.”
Choosing to work with Australian Producer Matthew Bartlem (Avalon Drive, Dead Letter Circus, Fatis Valour), Miacarla recorded throughout January and February 2009. The band’s new single was brought to the attention of highly renowned producer/mix engineer Forrester Savell who took timeout from working on Karnivool’s new album to mix the track. IvsWORLD was mastered by Troy Glessner (Anberlin, Underoath, He Is Legend) in Seattle, USA.
Miacarla will release ‘IvsWORLD’ this winter. Their brand new single ‘Get Up’ will hit airwaves in April.
