- Singer-songwriter Kiara Jack shares her poetic justice for peace and no war through her classical-style piano and unusually unique style of vocals. She has delivered her message through many styles, shifting, changing and growing through the years - from blues to jazz, through alternative rock to metal, and now metamorphasised into worldly folk. In live performing, she only feels totally fulfilled if she knows she has inspired at least one listener the way she has been inspired by a performer - if it only be through one riff, or one line of lyric, that passes on the spark of inspiration to another, then that is enough. Recently released, her single, 'Resurrect' was placed on a compilation to raise funds and awareness for charities such as the Delta Goodren Starlight Foundation and Chronic Pain Australia. The Jam 4 Awareness compilation also featured Australian artists such as Blue King Brown, Missy Higgins, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Grinspoon, Vanessa Amorosi to name a few. Influenced as much by classical melodies as by alternative metal vocalists like Tool's Maynard, or by the vocal timbre of artists like Bjork and Portishead, Kiara Jack is constantly pushing the limits of the natural acoustic barriers and indeed on the technique of playing the historical instrument, the piano itself - her roots being classical dance, ballet, and visual art, her inspiration is the curiosity to delve into the world of the inner mind - the space between the conscious and the subconscious. With rock-metal influences seeping through her piano melodies and vocals, it is apparent the musical style doesn't sit soundly in the genre of pop by a long shot. What sets Kiara apart is the main instrument, being the piano and synthesizer sounds, which adds a feminine darkness to her melodic tracks. A modern-day progressive rock, infusing dark chords and riffs. Strangely intrigueing and inviting... 'Resurrect' single featuring Christine McHugh (distributed by Jam 4 Awareness.) Thousands of copies were sold, raising money for the Ronald McDonald House charity. "-Using music as a medium to communicate with an audience, challenging people to engage in becoming an active part in raising social issues through music. To mark the beginning of an awareness of today's collective consciousness - we all know there is a need for change in our environment. A need to acknowledge issues such as youth diversity, mental health and homelessness to name a few." Kiara Jack intends to release her debut EP in 2010. More details on that very soon...
