End Of The Race was formed in 2007 by Carl and Dejan. They were just two kids with a guitar and a bass wanting to make some noise. At the time Carl was playing trombone in NR&D but was looking for something more, while Dejan wished to explore other sonic possibilities and wanted to break the shackles of bedroom musicianship. The two met in 2006 while both attending a music course at Gold Coast Tafe and after many musical discussions, over pizza and chevappi, decided to start a band. It wasn't until the next year that things started to take shape.

In 2007 Dejan had started University and ran into Chris during a musical programming course. Although they were an unlikely pair their interest in audio technology and guitar effects brought them together. Chris played for a band called The Earthlings and asked Dejan to come to their next gig. After that gig Dejan decided that he had to get Chris into his new band. Luckily for him Chris was dis-satisfied with the way that gig went and quit The Earthlings soon after and agreed to join Dejan. During this time Carl was playing for the Gold Coast youth orchestra as a trombonist. While he was there he ran into percussionist Jason and the band was formed. With Chris on vocals and guitar, Carl on bass, Dejan on lead guitar and Jason on Drums the band started smashing out a mix heavy funk and alternative melodic ballads. After a few months of jamming the group began to think of a name. After names like "Tyrannosaurus Turkey" and "Pilot Bologna And The Monday" were thrown around Carl suggested they name themselves after one of their first (and no longer played) songs. From that day forward they were called END OF THE RACE.

After their first gig playing the National Campus Band Competition, for creative reasons, they decided to part ways with Jason and recruited Andrew from Vital Signs to take up the role of drums temporarily. With Andrew on board, EOTR's music had a new edge which they took to the stage at the beginning of 2009 with their first show at the Shark Bar. After a successful first gig EOTR moved on to play at the Mermaid Tavern and then an acoustic set at The Loft on Chevron. On the 11th of Semptember 2009 EOTR hit the one last time with Andrew on drums. It was a fitting send off for Andrew as he was moving on to bigger and better things with Vital Signs.

After Andrew's departure, EOTR started the long and gruelling process of finding a new drummer. During this time, the remaining members continued to write new material and after several months found Scott. Scott contacted the band after seeing an ad Carl had put in Rave Magazine and arranged to have a jam. From that jam onwards Scott solidified his spot in EOTR.
