Sydney Band Needs help! Please!

Hi, My name is Jim and I am writing to you as a member of Sydney rock and roll band, Contraban. We were wondering if anyone could help us out as we’ve had a venue cancellation. This weekend was supposed to be the launch of our first EP, Here to Stay. We are playing Friday night in Brisbane for a RSPCA charity event at the jubilee hotel and were supposed to be playing Saturday night (9th April) on the Gold Coast at The Loft on Chevron Island. Playing Hard Rockin, Hip Shakin and foot tapping rock n roll from the heart of Sydney Contraban are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. Always delivering engaging and high energy live shows Contraban are one of the hardest working bands in Sydney always willing to go that extra mile to get their devoted audiences dancing and grooving to their mix of rhythm, blues and good time rock n roll.

Contraban’s swing is kept together by the irrepressible Jameel on drums who’s obsession with 2’s and 4’s Rock n Roll borders on unhealthy. Locking in with Jameel on bass is Paul who’s stage presence and elaborate fashion sense create an intense visual experience in combination with his rock solid bass lines. Payne on Rhythm guitar is as steady as a freight train and as precise as a mathematician providing tight meat and potatoes rock n roll guitar. On vocals and lead guitar is cal who, with a voice that belies his age provides harsh bluesy vocals and capable of guitar licks both soulful and tasteful.

April 2009 saw the release of Contraban’s debut EP “Midnight Cowboy” a three track punch in the face that clearly stated in their intent to play rock n roll and have a good time doing it. Contraban have graced the stage with numerous touring bands such Hell City Glamours, LORD, DOOMFOXX, The Beards and The New Christs (Ex- Radio Birdman) With no signs of letting up, prepare to dance, shake and screw to Contraban on a stage near you in 2011
