Nope, but the deff sucks. We tend to just stay away from band comps in general. They are all dodgy.

Yes, they are great for playing to a new crowd, but dont fall for the hype of getting through to the next round... just do something to break the rules, play for a bit longer, swear, or just pull out!

not us but there are some rip offs out there,,,,,,some poor bugger played at a pub in tamworth all night ,,half an hr before they were due to end the gig they were asked to leave .......so the pub didnt have to pay the gig fee......it was a 4 hr gig and the boys were from gympie.......they were pretty good to......talk about a mongrel act on behalf of the pub.....so beware guys...

Response to death by dance..... Not ALL band comps are dodgy. My company Old School Management has run 2 comps now, 1 of which Mayan Fox have played in, and can testify that the winner Nuts, Raccoons and Dragons  was paid the prize money cash on the night. The second was won by Nine Sons Of Dan who can also testify were paid cash on the night. I have now evolved my next comp LAST BAND STANDING to a 1 day event with 16 bands who each play 20 minutes ONLY and the winner will leave the venue with the $2000 winner takes all CASH prize.....no heats....no semi's....one 20 min set winner gets 2k ON THE DAY. Dont tar all promoters and venues with the same brush mate......  Not fair and definately not accurate.

I'll concur, I was happy with the OSM comp and it gave fantastic sound engineering to start with which is always a bonus.
