solo singer songwriter - good venues for original musicians?

hey

i am looking to book a singer songwriter, acoustic guitar, solid artist with beautiful original songs. alternative/roots........

any suggestions of venues/cafes where i can get some gigs?

If you drop by to Sydney you should check out Mars Hill Cafe (www.marshillcafe.com) - awesome place that really supports indie artists.

thanks looked it up, looks cool but dont think will be heading there soon so if anyone knows of good places on gold coast and bris let me know! :-)
