I am thinking of getting a few local original bands together to organise a show in March or April.
If a few of us bands got together to put on a kick ass show, got some support from a good local venue and also assistance from local media, we could create a good platform for local bands to showcase them selves. Raise the profile of local original music.
Any bands, or industry people interested in getting on board?
If it works well, might be a good thing to do on an ongoing basis.
any more info in regards to your event and any other information regarding local talent and promoting them?
Not really mate... Shit out of luck actually! Can't get a venue, except for maybe Shed 5. Gold Coast is proving tough. Not as tough as the Sunny Coast though, F'n' hell!
If you're a hard rock band looking to gig on the Gold Coast, you're up shit creek! you've got Shed 5, which is really more of a metal scene, Shark Bar at Miami and that IF you can get on the bill (good luck) and the Hard Rock Cafe (As if)!
I scored a gig at the Hinterland and played there last week, but that's it. Even though we, as a band, are going great and getting awesome references from Venue Management etc, it seems there is just apathy out there for the Gold Coast music scene in terms of venues wanting to support local emerging artists.
At least that's been my experience to date.
Just got to keep pushing the shit up the hill I guess. If you have a show that you need filled, let me know. I'm keen, LOL.
cheers brother... thats sort of what i thought gc bands was trying to do.... create a more distinguished music scene etc??? o well.... I will be sure to keep you posted etc. I am actually helping manager one of my buddies bands that are yet to of played live but have a full album on the way bla bla bla.... and yeah i am picking up what you are putting down about the gold coast etc... but i will to continue with the up hill battle...
You just got to keep battling.
My advise to you is get some gigs in Brisbane. At least then the band can get playing at least. Gigs in Brisbane are easy to get.
That sounds like an awesome idea, Collin Class is a three piece rock band that would be happy to help out.
Please count Collins Class in, I have attached some links for you to check us out:
