GC Bands - Gold Coast Live Music Scene

Hello lovely Gold Coasters

I front a Perth band called The Darlings, and we'd really love your opinions on our tracks.

We released our first AA-Side single Beloved/Best Thing this weekend, with another to follow late August, early September, with an album to be finished by the end of the year.

We have hopes to visit your fair state early next year, so all opinions will help.

Here's the music:

Thanks, guys.

Thanks Bryce!
Just what I was looking for, constructive and honest.
If you can share our page with friends you think might like it, then we can build up enough of a crowd to play to!
We're looking at February next year, once the album's been recorded and finished.
We have a new drummer, too, with a bit more zazz.

:)

Hi Angel,

Dig Beloved. Interesting to see a key change but works well. Nice harmonies and melodic guitar. Could hear this track sync'd with a suitable film. Mix seems a little wooly in the bottom end and some of the performances could have been a little tighter. Drummer could have got a little more expressive with his fills but I know the style sort of calls for something pretty straight forward. Not having a dig just offering up some suggestions for next time.

Best Thing. Cool track again. I think (as Bryce mentioned) that you want your voice to be more in your face which is definitely a mix thing. When your in the studio next see if they have a mic called an SM7 (Shure) a classic rock vocal mic. And try a close double track for the chorus sections. Cool "sludgy" guitar riff too.

In all a couple of great tracks and you're really hitting the nail on the head with the 90's sound. Look forward to seeing you out this way soon.

All the best.

Thank you
I know what you mean about the drum tracks, hence replacing the drummer.
I tried to fight the 90's sound, but it's ingrained in me!
Just figured I'd go with it...
;)
