Charlie Mayfair are a conglomeration of musical experiences: jazz educations jostle up against love affairs with Appalachian folk, and voices lifted in rapturous harmony mingle with acoustic guitar. Think Joni Mitchell eating fairy bread made by Fleetwood Mac served at Arcade Fire’s birthday party while Glen Hansard slow dances to The Beatles...

...in the form of a five-piece group of Brisbane-dwelling ruffians banded together by an insane rip-your-clothes-off kind of love for music.

Since their conception in January 2010, Charlie Mayfair’s unique style of folk-fired pop has successfully packed local venues, and the quixotic quintet are ready to pack up their hearts and souls along with their sweet, sweet harmonies and share their music with the world.

Their first single - 'Run' - which was released into the wild in February, has been gaining some fine feedback from listeners, especially after being featured on triple j Unearthed, where presenter Zan Rowe called it “a really sweet folk-pop song; lovely harmonies going on.” 'Run' has also received Highly Commended in the Folk genre in the Q Song 2010 Music Awards.

Mattie Barker emerged from the fertile Gold Coast- Northern Rivers creative music communities in 2006 and has been generating a ground swell of support locally since.

Drawing his influences from a wide spectrum of styles and sounds; acoustic roots and blues, reggae chill, to Cat Stevens style folk, Mattie continues to deliver a heartfelt one-man-band style performance.

With a warmth that resonates out to his audiences, Mattie Barker keeps the tradition of Harry Manx, Xavier Rudd and Jack Johnson alive and fresh with music directly from the heart, often leaving his audiences inspired with his ernest lyrical content and sincere admiration for each and every soul.

A mix of dreamy acoustics, soft vocals and the sounds of a battered old reverb pedal Shaunyl Benson and Eimhin Healy are Irah.

Two kids with no other dreams or aspirations. Ifluenced by artists such as 'Angus And Julia Stone', 'Laura Marling', 'Bon Iver' and 'City And Colour', the duo hope to one day, shre their music with the world.
