Event Description
Bond University's free music series presents Bec Whitehead and Jazz it Up.
Bec Whitehead's early years were infused with jazz through her father's passion for jazz classics.
Bec has performed with John Rowles, The Platters and The Gypsy Swingers, as well as at Jetstar Gold Coast Titans games, the Broadbeach Jazz Festival and various hotel venues such as Palazzo Versace and the Crowne Plaza. Bec has also appeared as a guest on Jazz Radio 94.1FM.
She cites Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra as her formative influences. Bec's breakthrough musical moment was her rendition of Bjork's 'It's Oh So Quiet' as her Year 7 graduation. Mentoring from Petra Carter, and a series of charity performances set Bec on her way, and there has been no stopping the rising star of this vivacious, talented young local!
