An exciting new opportunity for Gold Coast BANDS to gain recognition and experience working with Southport (music) entrepreneur, Al Buchan, director of Fretfest Pty Ltd.

Having helped in the early career establishment of Australian musicians Pete Murray and many others, Buchan offers a proven track record for those who remain true to their authenticity and originality.  

This Buchan says is one of the “keys to success in the Aussie music industry”.

“Being authentic is absolutely essential, and the art of communication is the other big factor,” Buchan claims, suggesting bands who fail to communicate with their fans can be left wondering what went wrong.  Instead of enjoying the success that they may have richly deserved, they end up being ignored and this can be cruel.

Buchan says “If you ignore your audience it can go both ways and the importance of communication cannot be overstated. You have to keep the conversation going and it’s not about this next song, either.

“Audiences demand far more from their musicians now, especially with so many other forms of entertainment on offer.  We have to be extraordinary, to hold people’s attention.”

With support from the Australian Performing Rights Association, the Regional Arts Development Fund and the Australian Government Contemporary Music Touring Program, Buchan has built a business which helps musicians take it to the next level, sustainably, turning his passion into a full time business and expanding to the coast.

His Music Mentorship Program is now being recognised and his new music show (now on the Gold Coast) is welcoming Bands, to come forward and apply (for free) to get up on stage at The Parkwood Tavern every Friday night, and strut their stuff.  Working under the banner of “ESCALATE – Take Your Band To The Next Level” Buchan is introducing new Gold Coast bands to the stage every Friday night.

Bands receive professional assessment and feedback about their performances and winning bands will be offered payment as well as Buchan’s professional mentorship. 

With a wealth of experience and proven success, this could be a good move for local musicians wanting to take their first crucial steps forward.
