 been invited, once again, to the East Coast Blues and RootsFestival (2
 005, 2008, & 2009).\nThe band has recently been tearing up the interna
 tional scene and have leaped into the higher \nperforming spectrum of 
 live blues rock. Success is due to Masons\nhuge stage presence and cre
 ativity.\nThere is a great drum duel where Mason walks out into the au
 dience playing anything he can find, \nonly to challenge the drummer J
 oel Purkess in Canada to fight back. The\n\nshow leaves the audience g
 ob smacked and craving more; they have never\n\nseen anything like it 
 before! Some try to imitate it and that only goes\n\nto show the new g
 round breaking ideas Mason is bringing to the live\n\nstage.\nNow with
  their new bassist Marcus Engel in Canada the band is truly making the
 ir mark on Canada.\nMason Rack \nLead Guitar, Vocals, Front Man Southp
 ort, Queensland Australia \n\nMason originates from Southport on Queen
 sland’s sunny gold coast. Raised on jazz, rock and surfing, Mason st
 arted performing at the \ntender age of six, tutored by his father, Bi
 lly Rack, who was an awesome\n\nmusician and all-round legend.\nTogeth
 er with his band, outstanding vocals, guitar playing and awesome stage
  presence, Mason \ncontinues to deliver high impact performances to au
 diences everywhere.\nHis influences include: Tom Waits, Tex Perkins, J
 eff Buckley, Ben Harper, Violent Femmes, and Dave Matthews.\nJoel Purk

 lved with music. Since an early age he has studied a variety of instru
 ments before finding his identity \nas a bass player.\nBefore studying
  jazz bass at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Marcus played in rock
  and roll bands in his native \nWinnipeg while immersing himself in a 
 constant diet of progressive rock\n\nand funk.\nDrawing influence from
  great bassists like Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Chris Squire,Rocco Pre
 stia, and Jannick Top, he forged a \nheavy, groovy rock style not ofte
 n applied to the fretless bass.\nMarcus now plays with an Edmonton bas
 ed funk band and a jazz band, as \nwell as just being hired by Mason R
 ack to perform on his Canadian tour.\n\n\nInfluences\nBilly Rack,Tom W
